Demon spawn

As much as I love my husband, sometimes I feel his love for animals, is at an extreme level. First a little background information. He's vegetarian, has been since before we met, I'm not, I still eat meat but I've never tried to change him or convince him to eat meat again. I knew when we got together the way he was, so why would I want to change him? He's not the preachy kind either, he doesn't tell me all the awful things I already know about the meat industry or how I'm evil for continuing to eat meat, the whole time we've been together, the only thing he's "told me off for" is eating lamb because it's a baby sheep & he'll say that's like someone eating our baby. In a joking way of course but he gets his pount across none the less.

Now let's talk about cats for a second. Cats, lovable little creatures, when you're on their good side, yeah? However, get on their bad side & they're little demon spawn, out looking for blood & ready to tear your hand off at any given moment. My husband, this lover of animals, didn't come to my house alone, he had a pet cat named after one of his favourite bands & so inevitably his cat moved in with us as well. This huge, ginger cat was loving & made the cutest little chirping sounds, he had a small little meow that didn't suit his body as he was a big boy, he would give little, soft head butt's & loved being cuddled. He'd sit on your shoulders & nuzzle your neck, just a very cute, affectionate cat. Well this little cute cat, was great for the first few weeks, then he started acting up, he wasn't neutered yet & unfortunately it was prime time for covid, so no where would take him in for an appointment to get it done, so he was spraying all around the house constantly, on everything that we loved, he was squaring up to my other cats; actually backing them into a corner & moving left to right when they tried to get around him, jumping up on my counters, humping the back of my couch, stealing food from my two cats & just being a little menace, but when I told him off, he'd try to scratch me. So I'd chase him out the room, this cat was driving me demented.

There was a problem though, the animal lover in the house, didn't believe a word of it, whenever I'd tell him this, he'd say "nah, not my cat, he wouldn't do that" & "he's a loving boy" ooh this used to make me so frustrated, my husband couldn't smell the urine & he was blaming my cats, saying "it must be them because they can smell my cat's scent & they're trying to cover it up" both of my cats were fixed, so this was not the case. There was no reasoning with this man. He was adamant, his cat was a little angel, he could do no wrong. But I knew otherwise. Roll on the next week or so, every time this cat sprayed, I would pick up the object & put it to my husband's face & tell him to smell it, I would separate him from my other two at feeding time, spray him with water whenever he squared up & whenever he'd try to scratch me when I told him off. Still, my husband couldn't see his faults. He'd sit on my husband's shoulder & look at me with his smug little face, almost smiling, as if he knew what he was doing. This cat was evil & no matter how hard I tried, I could not make him like me. I don't know if he was jealous because I was taking his attention away or he just had a mean streak, that only appeared after settling in. But either way, he had it in for me & made sure I knew it.

Just a few days later & at my wits end with the cat & the animal lover not believing me, I was about ready to throw him outside, so my house would be safe. Then one night, my husband & I were sitting, relaxing watching TV under a blanket, the kids were in their bed, all was quiet & over comes the cat from his slumber on top of my fridge, into the livingroom he strolls & straight over to the couch, he turns his back to us, lifts his tail & sprays directly on the blanket we have over us. He was caught red pawed, my husband jumps up & chases him "ha now you can't deny it!" I say straight away & my husband's face drops, he looks at me & says "he's never done that before" & I replied "yes he has, everyday day since he's been here"

Silence. Finally he witnessed his little angel being not so angelic and quickly realised everything I said was true. I had the biggest smirk on my face, now he'd have to help clean it all up & actually give him into trouble for his wrongdoings, it wasn't long before he was doing everything else in front of my husband too. Safe to say as soon as the "lock down" lifted, an appointment was made for his ultimate demise.

Thanks

Redhead xx
